The Neurodivergent Black People Discord is part of The Neurospicy Ecosystem by NBW, a network of communities supporting more than 50,000 members.

As our communities have grown, members have consistently requested more opportunities for ongoing conversation outside of Facebook posts and comment sections. In response, we have maintained chats across Messenger, GroupMe, WhatsApp, and other platforms, including spaces organized around productivity, shared interests, support needs, geographic areas, and community discussion.

Those spaces demonstrated a clear need for more continuous connection. They also revealed the limitations of managing a growing community across multiple applications, separate invitation links, and disconnected group chats.

Discord allows us to bring those conversations into one organized community.

Discord provides more structure and flexibility than a traditional group chat while still allowing members to communicate casually in real time.

Members can access multiple conversations and activities from one community instead of joining a separate chat for every topic or interest.

Some people are looking for regular conversation. Others may be interested in productivity support, shared interests, professional connections, local community, resources, or simply having access to a space they can visit when they want to engage.

You Control Your Experience Here

Facebook’s algorithm is not deciding which conversations appear, which ones disappear, or when they get shown. The rooms are there to visit intentionally, and members can choose what they want to see, follow, mute, or engage with. No waiting for a Facebook post to make it through the approval queue.

Find People by Interest, Experience, and Location

Location chats, hobbies, shared experiences, professional interests, and new community spaces can grow inside the same server instead of requiring another GroupMe, Messenger chat, WhatsApp group, or invitation link.

Body Doubling, Voice Rooms, and Co-working

Dedicated spaces for working, studying, cleaning, life admin, projects, or just having other people around while getting through the thing that has been sitting on the list for entirely too long. Sometimes the company is the support.

Same Community Standards

The Discord is an extension of the NBP community, so the same expectations around respect, boundaries, protecting member privacy, good faith engagement, and how members treat one another still apply. The server is moderated by the NBP team, with designated spaces for different conversations.
